Chatham House and The Asfari Foundation are now offering Academy fellowships and Academy senior fellowships. Scholars from Middle East countries are invited to apply. A range of interesting benefits will be given to the selected fellows. The application deadline is 31 May every year.
Fellowship Description
The Academy Asfari Fellowships are a joint initiative of Chatham House and the Asfari Foundation. The purpose of this fellowship is to offer potential and established leaders from the Middle East the opportunity to further develop their understanding, ideas and approaches on the most pressing challenges facing the Arab world. Fellows will have the chance to advance their knowledge, develop research skills and build links with the policy, academic and other communities in the UK and more widely. Academy Asfari Fellowship.
Award Value
The fellow will receive a monthly stipend of approximately £2,295. Modest provision is made for the costs of relocation, fieldwork, and possible publication costs.
Level and Area of Studies
Research program in one of the fields as follow: Japan and the Middle East (with the Asia Programme); Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (with the Centre on Global Health Security), A Counter Analysis of Regional Stability in the Middle East; Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East; Young people in the Middle East (with the International Security Department) and New trends in political Islam and post-Islamist movements and Emerging trends in Kurdish politics (with the Middle East and North Africa.
Place of Study
The research can be taken in the United Kingdom.
Eligibility and Criteria
Education
- It is required that the applicant holds a completed BA degree or equivalent, Masters degree with an international focus is preferred.
Career
- The fellowship is aimed at candidates at the mid-stage of their career and who come from academia, NGOs, business, government departments, civil society or the media. They should possess knowledge of, and an interest in, one of the policy-related challenges laid out in the research topics in ‘Research Topics.’
Applicants’ Nationality
Citizens of Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine or Syria, and displaced citizens of these countries living elsewhere in the Middle East are eligible to apply.
