The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill opens for applications from June 1 to both domestic and international students. The scholarships – Canada’s first comprehensive, leadership-driven scholarships for master’s and professional degree studies are open to students with Exceptional character, Community engagement, Leadership potential, Entrepreneurial spirit, Academic strength and intellectual curiosity.
Scholarship Description
The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first comprehensive, leadership-driven scholarships for master’s and professional degree studies. The scholarship program brings together a diverse group of scholars who have demonstrated leadership potential and an inner drive, who aspire to lead with purpose to make a positive impact in other peoples’ lives.
The scholarships are fashioned after some of the top scholarships around the world – such as the Rhodes Scholarships in Oxford, the Mandela Rhodes Scholarships in Cape Town, and the Kupe Scholarships in New Zealand. It is Canada’s most comprehensive master’s-level scholarship that builds on, but is not limited to, academic excellence.
Award Value
The McCall MacBain Scholarships can range from $5,000 – $20,000.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for the 2025 cohort of McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill, you must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- You are a current student on track to earn your first bachelor’s degree by August 2025.
- You earned your first bachelor’s degree in the last five years (January 2019 or later).
- You earned your first bachelor’s degree more than five years ago, and are 30 years or younger in 2024.
- You will also need to meet the minimum degree and language requirements for McGill master’s program admission.
