Gemological Institute of America ScholarshipsProspective US and International students may now apply for a scholarship from the Gemological Institute of America Scholarships during this application period, which closes March 31, and should visit the GIA website for program updates.

The number of awards granted as well as the amount of each award will be dependent upon the number of qualified applicants, pandemic conditions and capacity restrictions, and GIA’s ability to effectively deliver the course or program.

Scholarship Descriptions

Applicants for the Gemological Institute of America Scholarships are encouraged to obtain a GIA Student ID prior to starting the application process. If you already have a GIA Student ID, please proceed to the Application Portal. If you do not yet have a GIA Student ID, create one before beginning the application process. If you do not have a record of your GIA Student ID, please e-mail admissions@gia.edu for assistance.

GENERAL U.S. SCHOLARSHIPS

These Gemological Institute of America Scholarships are available ONLY for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.

GIA Scholarship Fund for U.S. Veterans
Award maximum: $3,000
Open to U.S. military veterans including reservists and National Guard personnel. To qualify, applicants must include proof of U.S. military service. Distance Education eLearning courses or Lab Class(es) (Carlsbad campus ONLY)
GIA Scholarship – Distance Education eLearning
Award maximum: Varies
Distance Education eLearning courses.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents.
GIA Scholarship – Lab Class or Workroom (GEM 240 Only)
Award maximum: Varies
Any US Lab class Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents.

On-Campus Graduate Gemologist (GG) program, Graduate Diamond (GD), Graduate Colored Stone (GCS), Jewelry Design & Technology (JDT) program, Comprehensive CAD/CAM for Jewelry program and Jewelry Design (JD) program.
(Carlsbad or New York campus)

Richard T. Liddicoat Memorial Scholarship

G. Robert Crowningshield Memorial Scholarship
Award maximum: Full tuition
On-Campus Graduate Gemologist (GG) program (Carlsbad campus only)
Eunice Miles Memorial Scholarship

On-Campus Graduate Gemologist (GG) program (Carlsbad campus only)
Glenn Nord Memorial Scholarship
Award maximum: Full tuition
Any On-Campus program (Carlsbad campus only)
Bert Krashes Memorial Scholarship
Award maximum: Full tuition
Any On-Campus program (Carlsbad campus only)
Alfred “Al” Woodill Memorial Scholarship
Award maximum: Full tuition
Any On-Campus program (Carlsbad campus only)
Preference given to AGS Members or staff of AGS Member stores

Available for all on-campus programs at GIA’s Hong Kong campus.
Applicants cannot be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
GIA Scholarship – London
Award maximum in US $: Varies
Available for all on-campus programs at GIA’s Thailand campus.
Applicants cannot be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
GIA Scholarship – Taiwan
Award maximum in US $: Varies
Awarded for on campus programs at GIA’s Taiwan campus with instruction in Chinese ONLY.
Applicants cannot be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
GIA Scholarship – Thailand
Award maximum in US $: Varies
Available for all on-campus programs at GIA’s Thailand campus.
Applicants cannot be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
GIA Scholarship – India
Due to COVID related campus restrictions on capacity, there are no scholarships available for programs at GIA’s India campuses in this cycle.
