The University College London UCL Scholarships and Funding is a total Funding package for all grades of students, whether domestic or international students, on undergraduate or postgraduate courses. An Undergraduate Degree Cost
An undergraduate degree has two elements to consider when calculating cost- tuition fees and living costs.
Tuition Fees: This varies from programme to programme, and depend on your fee classification. You can check the Undergraduate Prospectus for information on what your fees may be for any particular programme.
Living costs: The amount spent on living costs may vary greatly from student to student and depend on lifestyle and individual circumstances. The estimated average would be £312 per week, £1,351 per month or £12,145 per academic year.
Government loans: The Student Finance (UK students and those covered by the EU Withdrawal Agreements) may be Loans for tuition fees and maintenance made available from the UK government.
Home students will need to apply to the relevant funding authority for the nation they normally live in, as:
- Student Finance England
- Student Finance Northern Ireland
- Student Awards Agency for Scotland
- Student Finance Wales
US Loans: UCL participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program (Direct Loans). This is the main U.S. Federal funding available to American students in the UK. Students applying to Direct Loans for study at UCL should follow the instructions carefully.
Canadian Loans: Students from Canada may be able to apply for Canada Student Loans and provincial or territorial student assistance.
UCL Undergraduate Bursary: The UCL Undergraduate Bursary provides support to UK undergraduates with a household income below £42,875. The Bursary is given in each year of undergraduate study, provided the household income remains below £42,875. You do not have to repay the UCL Undergraduate Bursary.
Estranged Student Bursary: UCL offers a £1,000 per-year bursary for UK undergraduate students who are estranged from their family.
Care Leaver Bursary: UCL offers a £1,000 per-year bursary for UK undergraduate students who live or have lived in care.

There are other programme or subject-specific funding available. These are usually placed on an online notice board, but UCL does not administer or take responsibility for any of these schemes.

Postgraduate Taught Courses | UCL Scholarships and Funding
Funding for Master’s study can be limited, so most students piece together different funding sources to cover their costs. Funding may be for internal, external or overseas research or exchange programmes.
UCL Master’s Cost
For Master’s study, there are two elements to consider – tuition fees and living costs.
Tuition Fees: Tuition fees will vary from programme to programme, and depend on your fee Classification.
The below full-time tuition fees for an academic year do not include fees set by other providers.

Living costs: Living costs may vary greatly from student to student and depend on lifestyle and individual circumstances. An estimated average would be £268 per week or £1,156 per month, or £13,852 for the 52-week academic year.
Government loans: Some governments offer loans for students pursuing postgraduate study. Check these with your home government to see what funding they may offer.
Postgraduate Master’s Loan from Student Finance: Unlike undergraduate Student Finance, this is a single loan that acts as a contribution towards the cost of study. It is unlikely that it will cover the cost of both tuition fees and maintenance. Currently, you could get up to £11,836.
Postgraduate Loans Eligibility: Information on the loan including full eligibility details can be found on the Student Finance Master’s Loan website.
U.S. Loans: This is the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program (Direct Loans) – the main U.S. Federal funding available to American students in the UK.
Canadian Loans: Only students from Canada may be able to apply for this.
