The National Humanities Center fellowship is open for scholars engaged in advanced humanities research regardless of citizenship or national origin to come to their Center, in North Carolina, as part of the cohort of Fellows and contribute to the rich intellectual and diverse environment of the fellowship program.
Scholarship Description
Each year, the National Humanities Center Fellowship welcomes applications from scholars from across the humanities and all over the world for a fellowship program. During their time in residence, Fellows are given the freedom to work on their projects while benefiting from the exceptional services of the Center. The stunning Archie K. Davis building offers private studies, light-filled common areas, and verdant grounds. The Center also provides scholars with exceptional library services, breakfasts, and lunches in the dining area, and administrative support in organizing seminars and study groups.
Level and Area of Studies
Doctorate degrees or equivalent scholarly credentials in the area of Humanities is required, or scholars should be individuals from the natural and social sciences, the arts, the professions, and public life who are engaged in humanistic projects.
Eligibility and Criteria
To be eligible for this National Humanities Center Fellowship in Canada, applicants must:
- Have a doctorate or equivalent scholarly credentials
- Be Mid-career and senior scholars
- Be Emerging scholars with a strong record of peer-reviewed work.
- Note that the Center does not support the revision of doctoral dissertations.
Application Procedure
Applicants for the National Humanities Center Fellowship are to complete the online application form and upload the following documents:
- 1,000-word project proposal
- short bibliography (up to two pages)
- curriculum vitae (up to four pages)
- one-page tentative outline of the structure of the project (if the project is a book, provide an outline of chapters; otherwise, give an outline of the components of the project and their progress to date)
