The U.S. Department of State and the Washington Center (TWC) for Internships and Academic Seminars are glad to invite applications for the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (IT) Fellowship Program. The award will be given to the U.S. students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degree in IT – related fields. Up to $37,500 will be given to the winning fellows.
Scholarship Description
Funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Washington Center (TWC) for Internships and Academic Seminars, the Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship Program provides outstanding students pursuing an IT-related degree with a challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply technology solutions to the business of diplomacy. The program awards five Fellows (three graduates and two undergraduates) with tuition assistance, mentorship, and professional development to launch their careers in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply.
Award Value
Each winners will receive up to $37,500 annually for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expenses for a two-year master’s degree in an IT-related field. Other benefits will also be given.

Eligibility and Criteria
Undergraduate Fellowship:
- Applicants must be United States citizens.
- Applicants must be in the sophomore year of undergraduate study at a U.S. undergraduate institution.
- Applicants must be expecting to receive their bachelor’s degree in spring.
- Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and this grade point average must be maintained throughout participation in the program.
- Applicants must be able to attend June orientation in Washington, D.C. if selected.
- Applicants must be available to fulfil the summer internship obligations (summer & summer)
- Applicants must be prepared to enter the Foreign Service in fall.
Graduate Fellowship:
- Applicants must be United States citizens.
- Applicants must be seeking admission to a U.S. graduate school beginning in fall
- Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and this grade point average must be maintained throughout participation in the program.
- Applicants must enroll in a two-year, full-time master’s degree program at U.S. based graduate institutions only, in an academic field relevant to Information Technology. Applicants must be able to attend June orientation in Washington, D.C. if selected.
- Applicants must be available to fulfil the summer internship obligations (summer & summer)
- Applicants must be prepared to enter the Foreign Service in fall .
