University of Brighton Sports Scholarships

The University of Brighton is delighted to offer a number of sports scholarships for 2019 entries. There are two different types of scholarships available; Elite athletes / Elite disabled athletes scholarships and Talented sports performers scholarship. Both prospective and current students are eligible to apply.

Scholarship Description
Elite athletes / Elite disabled athletes scholarships are intended to students who have reached a national level of competition or performance and have the potential and dedication to reach world-class performance level. Meanwhile, Talented sports performers scholarship is open to students who have represented their sport at national or regional level or who are able to demonstrate that they have the potential to compete at these levels.

Award Value
Each scholarship has own benefits as follow:
Elite athletes / elite disabled athletes:

  • Bursary of up to a maximum of £1,000 per year of study to fund expenses arising from training or competition
  • Free access to university sport facilities
  • Free sports science support by BASES-accredited staff
  • Access to sports medicine support at reduced rates through Sportswise
  • A sports/academic mentor
  • Access to University of Brighton sports coaches where available in your sport
  • Access to an extensive partnership network including Sport England and regional sports providers
  • Loan of a laptop to assist with academic commitments at training camp.

Talented sports performers:

  • Access to University of Brighton sports squads and coaches where available in your sport
  • Financial assistance up to a maximum of £500 per academic year to fund expenses arising from training or competition
  • A talented sports performer’s card allowing free use of the university sports facilities
  • Free sports science support by BASES-accredited staff
  • A sports/academic mentor to help with lifestyle management
  • Access to an extensive partnership network.

Level and Area of Studies
College or university level in any field.

Place of Study
The study will be taken at the University of Brighton in UK.

Eligibility and Criteria
Elite athletes / Elite disabled athletes scholarships:

  • You should have reached a junior or senior national level of competition or performance and have the potential and dedication to reach world-class performance level (or equivalent) in your sport.
  • You should have been accepted on a University of Brighton course or be a current student of the university, or a directly funded course at a partner college.

Talented sports performers scholarship

  • You should have represented your sport at national or regional level or be able to demonstrate that you have the potential to compete at these levels (please note county representation is not a sufficient standard).
  • You should have been accepted on to a University of Brighton course or be a current student of the university.

Applicants’ Nationality
There is no nationality restriction to apply these University of Brighton Sports Scholarships.
