Each year, applications for the Public Defender Scholarship are invited. Candidates should be enrolled at law school. One winner will be selected to receive $1,000.The closing date of application is 15 January on annual basis.

Eligibility and Criteria
Any current law student who has completed an internship, externship, or clinic with any public defender’s office (or otherwise represented indigent criminal defendants) in the calendar year prior to submission. If your experience working for a public defender’s office was prior to enrollment, you may apply during either your 1L or 2L year. You may apply only once.
Applicants’ Nationality
The U.S..citizens are welcome to apply.
Application Instruction
Please write a personal essay about your experience as a public defender. You may choose any angle you’d like to explore. Entries must be no longer than 1,200 words. Mail a hard copy of your essay to the following address:
