Estelle Martin Cartledge Memorial Fund

Poise Foundation is inviting applications for the Estelle Martin Cartledge Memorial Fund. In order to be eligible, candidates must be high school and be accepted or currently enrolled in a 4-year institution of higher education. Good academic performamance and involvement in humanitarian service projects are also required.

Scholarship Description
This scholarship was established in 1991 to honor the memory of Estelle Martin Cartledge whose selfless service and constant teachings were an enduring source of strength and inspiration. The Fund will serve young people in Morning Star Baptist Church, Mon-View Heights and the Mon-Valley community.

Award Value
POISE grants one Estelle Martin Cartledge Memorial scholarship annually, approximately $1,300.

College or university level in any field.

Place of Study
The study will be taken in the United States.

Eligibility and Criteria
The applicant must be a high school graduate, have a strong academic record and be accepted or currently enrolled in a 4-year institution of higher education. Applicant must also have a sustained (1 year or more) involvement in humanitarian service projects. This does not include paid employment but may include church work, community service projects and tutoring.

Applicants’ Nationality
Applicant must be U.S citizens who live in the Mon Valley (Rankin, Turtle Creek, Braddock, North Braddock, Homestead, Duquesne, Monongahela and West Mifflin). Preference is given to students who are African American and attend Morning Star Baptist Church.
